The “campanile” near-field probe was originally invented by a group of scientists at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The innovative design won the prestigious R&D 100 award in 2013.
The team between HighRI Optics, Inc and Nanofabrication Facility at the Molecular Foundry, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has recently developed fiber nanoimprint based process for volume production of campanile near-field probes.
